zc-commander is one of the easiest zfs-snapshot tool there is.

I too am very passionate over this, I'm just amazed the bug has gone to just ignored.

Manual partitioning still broke, but LVM2 with encryption now works.
I'm using an older install script I might have to look at that, but for now,
For this setup testing I chose lvm/encrypted.

Xubuntu here, on zfs-root, clean install. Installer would crash over and over, until I zapped the Drive with No Format chosen.
After that install worked, lacking manual partitioning as said by...
